Director of Facilities Management-Real Estate

Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
The City of Chicago is seeking a Director of Facilities Management-Real Estate to plan and manage property management and building repair and maintenance activities for the Department of Fleet and Facility Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Works on the City's Real Estate portfolio specifically on leases to tenants in City facilities and with landlords who lease properties to the City departments
* Works with the various City Departments with leases to coordinate activities
* Work closely on projects with the Bureau of Facility Operations and Architecture, Engineering and Construction
* Works on the various contracts that impact the Bureau of Asset Management in addition to real estate leases, records management, energy procurement and professional services and operations of the graphics shop
* Performs related duties as assigned
Additional duties may be required for this position
Location: 2 North LaSalle
Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (may work outside normal business hours)
Salary: $118,128-$133,524.00/year
THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Construction Management, Building Systems or a directly related field, plus four years of work experience in the administration of maintenance and repair services for physical facilities of which two years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
* Previous supervisory experience relevant to the responsibilities of the position
* Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
* Knowledge of the City's contracting process
* Experience managing multiple trades
* Experience with construction projects
* Ability to track project progress and ensure timely completion
* Computer skills
