What is the purpose of our Refugee and Immigration Services Program?
Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigration Services works with refugee communities and other partners to design programs that leverage community assets to facilitate the integration of refugees and immigrants into communities across southeastern Wisconsin. Integration is an on-going process in which refugees, immigrants, and members of the receiving society grow together to develop strong economic, social, cultural, and civic connections. As a result, our communities are more secure, vibrant, and cohesive.

What will I do as a Refugee Education Developer?
The Refugee Education Developer facilitates new relationships, expanding program impact within local communities, and maintains a streamlined process between volunteer mentors/friends, staff, and the client (learners) in their path towards citizenship.  This position will also:
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners in the recruitment and training of volunteers.
  • Be the day-to-day go to point of contact for volunteers and clients within the program.
  • Facilitate training volunteers on topics that include but are not limited to: Cultural Humility, Strengths Based Approach, Citizenship process, cultural humility, and Best Practices for Adult Education.
  • Translate and record informational videos on topics related to citizenship and immigration in a refugee language.
  • Provide light case management, referrals, or resources for clients related to public benefits, school, and navigating other American systems.
Salary:  $37,000 - $40,000

Qualifications
  • Associate degree required in business, liberal arts, social services, communication or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One or more years’ experience working in an educational, communications, or social service field is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Rohingya, Burmese, Malay, Karen, or another refugee language is required.
  • Cultural knowledge of current refugee communities is a plus.
  • Experience teaching English as a subsequent language is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance (liability coverage: $100,000/person and $300,000/accident).
