Summary

Reporting to TEN's Executive Vice President, Energy Infrastructure and Sustainability, theProject Development Manager is accountable for leading project development activities and providing sales strategy support for alternate energy project delivery in the Mid-Atlantic region including various "as a Service" (aaS) structures, power purchase agreements (PPA), energy sales agreements (ESA), contingent payment agreements, energy savings agreements, and public-private partnerships (P3).

The primary responsibility of theProject Development Manager will be to lead the development of projects and proposals and manage all aspects of the development and execution of contracts. This role will also provide ongoing support to TEN's Business Development team to help secure customer selections and bookings and to TEN's Project Delivery team to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction, company profitability and risk management.

Location: Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh or Philadelphia), Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's pursuit team for alternate energy project delivery which may include bi-lateral negotiations, competitive proposals, investment grade audits, and completing detailed engineering and securing committed financing under project development agreements.
  • Develop and maintain the company's financial model(s) related to each of the projects under development that incorporates all external cost and internal labor budgets, savings estimates, key performance indicators (KPI's), and cost of capital.
  • Develop channel partner relationships with finance companies, energy asset investors/owners, and lenders that provide capital to support TEN's alternate energy project development and delivery efforts.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the unique financial, technical, and legal elements of aaS, PPA, ESA, and P3 transactions to manage TEN's business risk in the delivery of these energy projects.
  • Work with counsel and provide business review of all contracts, with a view towards risk mitigation, related to the development and delivery of energy projects.
  • Execute customer capture strategies and assist the Business Development Managers with building business relationships with target customers by effectively communicating the full scope of financial and technical solutions, services, and differentiators.
  • Support the Business Development team in developing and delivering customer presentations. Primary responsibility for understanding the financial structure(s) and the integration of the technical elements into the financial/contractual structure.
  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of project development involving a wide variety of technologies and involving multi-discipline project staff.
  • Partner with the company's engineering, construction, and finance personnel to develop project scopes, costs, savings, schedule, and financial offerings including leading presentations to the company's investment committee prior to proposal submissions and contract execution.
  • Lead the development of project-specific teams that involve external contractors, engineering firms, and others strategic partners.
  • Travel, as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years professional experience and five (5) years relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license is required for work-related travel

Knowledge and Experience Utilized in This Role

  • Understanding of the Energy Services business; emphasizing aaS, PPA's, and other structured finance approaches.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant state ESCO contractor compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction and financing practices related to ESCO projects.
  • Ability to identify project viability; technically and financially.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams through the project development and contract negotiation process.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to develop project-specific strategic subcontractor and vendor relationships.
  • Strong customer focus with well-developed customer relation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
