Job Description
Steptoe LLP seeks an Environmental Litigation Associate with 4-5 years of experience to join our Chemical Life Science practice group in our Chicago office.

Candidates should have experience in environmental and/or toxic tort and product liability matters; class actions in false advertising matters and/or unfair business practices. A background in science and/or in medical issues would be of benefit. Knowledge of and an interest in environmental compliance and chemical regulation is preferred.

The position will involve research and client advisory work, analyzing and drafting pleadings, strategic discovery response and management, motion practice, witness preparation, trial preparation, and business development activities. The position will also include significant opportunities for communicating directly with clients. Our associates receive meaningful, hands-on legal work at every stage of their careers.

We are looking for candidates who can and want to assume immediate responsibility and who are willing to work as an integral part of a high performing and collaborative team. We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a collegial working environment that offers training and mentorship. Expected salary range is $295,000 to $245,000 depending on experience.

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required. Membership in the Illinois Bar, active and in good standing, is also required. For consideration, please submit cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and writing sample.
