Job Overview

Design, develop and implement innovative systems within our production and additive manufacturing. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet goals and analyze results using cutting edge technology and other proven strategies to gain competitive advantages in our manufacturing process.

This position will be responsible for all aspects of our additive manufacturing efforts as well as continual improvement efforts.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, passionate about 3d printing, will enjoy solving problems, and making improvements, and will have a no job too big or small mentality, while having kept an eye on the big picture as well as the details.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage workflows, finished parts inventory, inventory levels of all supplies; this includes ordering, confirming stock availability with vendors, restocking of inventory, rotating date specific 3D printer materials, and updating material cost reports.
  • Support production and maintenance teams as well as contribute to the improvement of existing designs and manufacturing processes/systems in production and additive manufacturing through engineering, lean / 6 Sigma, and other principles by optimizing existing processes and setups, identifying new opportunities of cost reduction and print efficiency including processing parameters, design optimization, and layer thickness.
  • Set up, operate, monitor and maintain a variety of industrial 3D printing systems, support equipment, and post processing equipment/tools to ensure optimal performance, precision and efficiency.
  • Design solid models for printing of parts, jigs, fixtures and tooling to be used in the production environment.
  • Drive all stages of print production development including file preparation, printing, post processing, quality control, changeovers, and clean out while maintain a clean and organized working environment as well as adhering to all food safety, safety, environmental, and quality procedures/policies and wearing proper PPE.
  • Clearly document records and information, including process parameters, standard operating procedures, work instructions, part life, cost savings, and other relevant documentation. Support cost estimation as necessary with processing times and setup requirements as well as periodically present project status or requests to senior and executive leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficiency and comfort with various computer, additive manufacturing and CAD software; Microsoft, SharePoint, STL slicing/G-Code (including build layout, material selection, and parameter setting etc.), SolidWorks, Artec Studio, and Design X, experience is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical information, as well as analyze part failures modes and make improvements to designs while maintaining food safety standards.
  • Ability to think creatively, analytically, and outside of the box for solutions as well as capable of in-depth troubleshooting and problem solving in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, including courtesy, tact and discretion including strong written and verbal English language skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technology and/or process development initiatives from concept through release.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve work objectives both independently and on a multifunctional team.
  • Have a good understanding of: GD&T, engineering, mathematics, geometry, vectors, and machine tool fundamentals.
  • Display exceptional organizational skills, adept at managing multiple tasks, projects, and assignments simultaneously as well as optimizing build schedules and machine utilization maximization.
  • Direct experience and desire in authoring or maintaining material printing specifications, work instructions, and relevant documentation.
  • Engineering background or technical knowledge of other manufacturing technologies such as CNC, sheet metal, or injection molding.
  • A strong work ethic, self-motivated, and desire to improve efficiency and workflows.
  • A desire to continually advance technical knowledge and hands-on ability.
  • An ownership mindset - you stick with an issue until it's solved.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the organization. Must be responsive to incoming requests for information and tasks.
  • Experience in Lean / 6 Sigma projects and tools including center lining, rapid changeover, 5s, 8 wastes, RCA, PDCA, time studies, spaghetti diagrams, 5 why, fishbone and error proofing.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years experience in industrial additive manufacturing / 3D printing, 3D scanning, and/or reverse engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP or CSWE) a plus.
  • Lean / 6 Sigma Black / Green Belt
  • HACCP Trained a plus
  • FMEA Trained a plus
  • *SO and Auditor Trained a plus
