Description

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Reads gas meters, using mobile AMR (Automated Meter Reading) equipment. Travels daily assigned routes optimizing meter routes for maximum efficiency. Records meter index reads. Maintains all related documents and forms to comply with company procedures and federal guidelines. Provides assistance to Service Department as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have basic knowledge of computer software, hardware and internet.
  • Proficient math and analytical skills.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Must be able to work other shifts as scheduled, including early morning start times.
  • May be required to work weekends or holidays on occasion.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately read meter dials for all types of meters in use by the Company.
  • Identify and report unusual conditions pertaining to meters, computer equipment, field conditions, etc.
  • Conduct other field duties including locating and marking gas lines, turning off meters, making customer contacts and conducting collection activities.
  • Provide assistance for other departments, including Service, Leak Survey, Line Locating and Atmospheric Corrosion Control.
  • Safely use industry standard tools, equipment and vehicles, performing tasks in hazardous emergency situations.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Meter Reader (Temporary) Wage: $26.16 per hour
