Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer

As the Chief Information Officer, you will join our Executive Leadership team and be responsible for managing all IT-related functions, leading technological innovation, and ensuring the security and efficiency of UBB's IT infrastructure. Your dynamic and strategic thinking, expertise, strong leadership skills, and passion for driving technological advancements will be essential in shaping UBB's future.

This position is part of UBB's Executive Leadership team and will be on-site at our Bloomington office at least 3 days per week.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manages all IT-related functions including hardware, software, internal networking, system business continuity planning, technical disaster recovery, and communication facilities to support internal users and external customers.
  • Provides leadership for infrastructure, development, service desk, technical security, and project management teams.
  • Performs role of chief innovation leader using technology to develop ideas to serve our customers in new ways.
  • Designs and leads IT Governance program.
  • Participates in annual strategic planning sessions and develops an IT strategic plan to mirror UBB's overall strategic plan.
  • Directs software development whether internal or outsourced.
  • Designs secure testing structures that support established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards and controls.
  • Presents monthly IT reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinates annual IT audit and SOC2 testing, responds to exceptions and presents outcome to the Board of Directors.
  • Manages audit and regulatory relationships and responds to all regulatory examination and audit inquires.
  • Maintains UBB website and related internet-based communication systems, upgrading to meet emerging security threats and maximize quality of customer experience as needed.
  • Establishes processes and procedures for technical resilience and disaster recovery of critical network resources.
  • Provides technical infrastructure to support UBB's Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and participates in BCP readiness activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or related field; Master's or other advanced degree preferred
  • 10 - 15 years of progressive responsibilities in the IT field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior manager in an IT environment, preferably in banking or the financial industry
  • Excellent professional communication skills, including interpersonal and written communications; able to communicate technical concepts and risks to non-technical executive leadership
  • Familiarity with working in a highly regulated IT field, and the critical regulatory requirements involving IT and information security
  • Diverse background in hardware, software, communications, network, programming, and data security.
  • Ability to explore new technologies, understand their applicability to UBB's business model and communicate the risk and benefit of new technologies to the Executive Management team and Board of Directors
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard security frameworks (NIST, CSF, FFIEC CAT or others)
  • Excellent working knowledge of standard technical office applications (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Proven ability to work independently, and exercise initiative and independent judgment
  • Proven judgment in identifying, escalating, and communicating technical and security issues or threats
  • Highly developed time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to create and deliver highly polished formal presentations and internal training sessions
