As the Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Specialist you will lead and coordinate the implementation of Agilent Environmental Regulatory Compliance programs, develop leadership and employee safety culture, and ensure programs meet and deliver goals aligned with Agilent requirements and government regulation.

This is an opportunity to provide leadership and direction in areas such as environmental regulatory compliance, hazardous waste management, environmental permitting programs, and sustainability strategy planning.

You will assess and lead EHS Environmental Compliance performance and culture across the organization. Develop, implement, monitor, and communicate, as applicable, appropriate strategies to maintain a continuous improvement process. Establish systems to effectively report EHS required information to regulatory agencies as well as Agilent / NASD management.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance of internal and external requirements such as corporate policy or government regulation.

  • Ensure contractors/vendors succeed, delivering business impact with their contribution.

  • Collaborate with Agilent Leadership, to ensure that EHS programs, procedures and systems are in place for the protection of personnel and assets consistent with regulatory agencies, Agilent requirements and best practices.

  • Develop/maintain a culture where leadership and staff employees are engaged and accountable of EHS compliance and performance. Proactively influence Agilent Leadership Team to accomplish such objectives.

  • Maintains high visibility of Agilent performance through appropriate KPIs and lead management in identifying strategies to manage opportunities.

  • Ensures that Agilent Leadership proactively incorporates EHS considerations into the design of physical facilities, processes, new product introduction as well as in the management of change processes. Provide technical assistance in such activities.

  • Monitors projects, and corrective actions implemented to mitigate risks, through risk assessments, inspections, and audits systems. Ensures that EHS staff/SMEs develop such systems and implementation.

  • Ensures that an EHS training program/system and environmental program are implemented by the EHS staff/SMEs, meeting compliance standards of regulatory agencies and Agilent policy requirements.

  • Maintain permit compliance for the site at all times (license to operate). Prepares, submits, and obtains approval for Safety, Health & Environment permit applications, notifications and/or documents under the requirements of regulations. Complies with reporting and record keeping requirements to ensure EPA/CDPHE compliance (waste, air, stormwater)

    • Transfer of numerous regulatory permits (local, state, and federal)

    • Air emission data transition/formulation

    • RCRA reporting/Sara Tier II

    • Required Emergency Response Modelling

    • Haz Waste Management/Account Management

    • Haz Waste Diversion/Reclamation

  • Leads Agilent in Hazardous Waste management strategies, manage accounts and waste profiles, and keeps up with the latest treatment and disposal practices.

  • Communicate with vendors in development of treatment strategies, including recognizing process changes that affect waste stream management.

  • Manages environmental permitting for both manufacturing processes and expansion construction projects.

  • Lead projects to implement or improve EHS programs/systems or for other site projects as assigned.

  • Prepare annual budget to ensure appropriate funds are allocated to areas of responsibility and monitor the budget expenditure.

  • Participate in Agilent Global EHS, Americas Region EHS and other Agilent forums as well as participate in assigned external forums as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors in science or engineering or a combination of education and work experience

  • 8+ years of experience, or combination, in managing the development and implementation of safety, health, environment, or compliance programs

  • Experience working/influencing middle & senior leadership

  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring instruments, MS Office, Power Point (presentation software), Database management and Excel software

  • Ability to design strategic and tactical work plans and work collaboratively with work groups to implement them effectively and in a timely manner

  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and assertive manner, influence processes and reach collaborative agreements with external and internal clients, Agilent NASD members, leadership, Americas Region EHS, Agilent Global EHS, Compliance Network and governmental authorities

  • Knowledge of local/federal Environmental, Hazardous waste regulations
