Position Description:

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Visiting Assistant Professor will instruct undergraduate students, manage courses, and serve as functional supervisor and mentor to course-assigned teaching assistants.

Education Requirement:

  • PhD or equivalent in chemistry, chemistry education, or closely related field awarded by the position start date in August 2024.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching introductory chemistry lecture and/or laboratory courses at the undergraduate level.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with engaged student learning and inclusive, evidence-based instructional practices and a commitment to using them.

  • Experience facilitating engaged student learning and using inclusive, evidence-based instructional practices.

  • Experience preparing and supervising teaching assistants assigned to a course.
