JOB OVERVIEW

As the Chief Safety Officer at Robinson, you will play a crucial role in developing the strategic deployment of Robinsons safety culture. This will be done through deployment of our policies and practices. The CSO must exhibit a personal commitment to safety and be a passionate advocate for the safety of our workforce and key stakeholders.

The CSO will be responsible for policy development, management, and oversight of Robinson's Safety Programs. They will develop a progressive and proactive vision of safety across the organization translating the safety vision into strategy and providing guidance and direction to managers on program implementation, government regulations, reporting requirements, and standards of practice in five safety areas: Fabrication Safety, Operational Safety, Safety Certification, Employee Health and Safety, and Public Safety. The CSO ensures that a safety culture exists in all decision-making to guarantee the safety of our employees, contractors, key stakeholders, and the communities we serve. They work as a partner with other agency organizations, contractors, and consultants to assist in driving safety culture. Further, the CSO sees that Robinson Inc. shares responsibility for the implementation and adherence to the Safety Management System and delivers a best-in-class safety program.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the implementation of all organizational safety management policies.
  • Create clarity within the department and throughout the organization.
  • Drive performance by actively leading and managing culture.
  • Establish and maintain safety reporting metrics that drive change.
  • Regular reporting to the Director and Executive management level of KPI's
  • Provide proactive risk assessment as well as co-lead benefit/risk assessment with operating functions.
  • Develop risk management strategies and plans to monitor effectiveness throughout the organization.
  • Provide leadership to direct staff in system safety, EHS, and fabrication environments.
  • Establish and maintain honest, transparent relationships with federal regulatory agencies and local governments.
    • Ensures that the safety team is properly entering all recordable injuries into our OSHA tracking system.
  • Maintain reporting to all governmental agencies as well as manage audits and findings.
  • Provide case management on all recordable and lost time incidents.
    • Assures team is handling all related administration and follow up with employees, medical providers and insurance case managers.
    • Manages return to work.
  • Recommends updates for facility operations, maintenance, and safety items to maintain safe operating conditions.
  • Eliminates hazards and provides change in safety regulations and standards.
  • Will be responsible for safety programs at multiple sites. These programs will be reflective of pro-active measures in reducing safety incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience directing and managing the safety division of medium to large construction or manufacturing company.
  • Proven experience implementing and cultivation a successful company safety culture.
  • Must have broad knowledge of federal/state employee safety requirements.
  • Required knowledge of safety functions and programs including plant safety, facilities safety, production (OSHA) safety, hazard analysis.
  • Proven experience with project and program management techniques and principles.
  • Must have a strategic safety intellect to integrate vision into company plans both financially and physically.
  • Previous experience with welding, metal fabricating, structural assembly operations.
  • Experience leading, working with skilled trades employees.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication tools and equipment, including saws, grinders, drills, and cutting torches.
