TRAINING MANAGER

The Training Manager is responsible for implementing training and developing guidelines and programs, which may include Corporate, field and manufacturing operations training, technical training and Linus training,

This position coordinates with appropriate managers to identify skill/knowledge gaps and identify training needs, develop training courses, curriculum, or materials, and potentially deliver & evaluate training sessions while upholding regulatory record compliance & Austin Powder policies and procedures. The Training Manager selects training tools and training delivery mechanisms, based on the material being taught and the audience being targeted.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide training expertise and documentation to executives and legal counsel in response to compliance, legal or employee health/injury challenges.
  • Provide training related expertise and support in response to compliance audits, inspections and citations (ATF, DOT, OSHA, MSHA, etc.)
  • Documents employee attendance or performance at mandatory training sessions.
  • Coordinates guest trainers or serve as the subject matter expert (SME).
  • Develop and maintain a high level of proficiency with essential computer applications and maintain a high level of knowledge and competence with related compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment by assuring regulatory compliance as well as compliance to all company policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and assistance with new-user essential computer application training (i.e. Linus), administrative process assistance and compliance documentation review and assistance.
  • Instruct training programs via one-on-one on-site training, class room training, or webinar training as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate training programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement. In doing so, this individual also ensures that all content reflects One Austin.
  • Deliver presentations, stand up training, or instruction to employees and management.
  • Meet and confer with management, users, and contract providers to resolve problems and coordinate services.
  • Collaborates with field and manufacturing trainers in identifying, developing, and delivering training material.
  • Assist with expanding manufacturing LMS (i.e., Litmos) platform in order for it to be implemented and used across the U.S.
  • Delivers training/onboarding to Corporate and field/operations leadership positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor or Associate degree is preferred, experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • 5-10 years of experience in business application training and managing training activities for a geographically dispersed organization.
  • Federal Regulatory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with various instructional methods and techniques.
  • Experience developing training materials.
  • Specialized training in Instructional Design a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of meeting management, and team development.
  • Ability to stay up to date with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • The successful candidate must bring high level of ethical, intellectual, professional, and personal values that complement the team. Ability to fit and excel within the company culture - honest, hard-working, and operates in the best interest of the company at all times (no politics).
  • A strong understanding and expertise applying Instructional System Design methodology (ISD, ADDIE, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, managers, SMEs, field customers and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent project planning, organization and time management skills and ability to assign projects and lead and direct others to project completion.
  • Sound technical, conceptual and analytical abilities.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Advanced computer competence including competence with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Competence with any of the following: An LMS (Learning Management System), Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Captivate, Kahoot, Adobe Photoshop, TechSmith Camtasia and Zoom highly desirable.
  • Audio/video editing and development and online/computer-based training development experience highly preferred.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work schedule with approximately 25% travel.
