Basic Function

The HR Consultant will be a strategic partner to leadership and employees located at the LyondellBasell Chocolate Bayou, Matagorda and Victoria, TX plant sites. This position will provide expert guidance on HR matters, including but not limited to employee relations, talent management, performance management, organizational development, and HR policy implementation. The HR Consultant role will involve fostering a positive and productive work environment that supports the achievement of the company's goals and objectives. Primarily located at the Matagorda facility, the role will require frequent day travel to the Chocolate Bayou and Victoria sites.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Partner with leadership to understand and address business challenges through effective HR strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with all levels of employees from front line employees to senior management.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Support the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development planning.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, including workforce planning, recruitment, selection and offer creation.
  • Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Participate in project teams within client organization, providing guidance and support as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify and seek solutions to address people and organizational needs.
  • Maintain HR records, such as employee information and documentation.
  • Prepare HR-related reports as needed (e.g., turnover rates, headcount, overtime).
  • Coordinate HR projects, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Support payroll and benefits administration processes.
  • Help maintain SAP/Success Factors databases and systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
Min. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role.
  • Knowledge of HR functions, including employment law, compensation, organizational development, and employee relations.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and managers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Proficiency working independently in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
  • Experience in the chemical and/or oil and gas industry.
  • SAP and SuccessFactors experience strongly preferred.
