Joining colleagues in the Collections and Resource Acquisition Services unit, this position plays a vital role in developing, managing, and sustaining University Libraries' electronic and physical resource collections to support student success and faculty teaching and research. Ball State University Libraries employs 47 professionals and 63 staff employees. With access to over one million print volumes and more than 1.3 million e-resources, the Libraries provides access to a full spectrum of scholarly resources and also offers vibrant and inclusive learning space for over 650,000 annual visitors. |

Position Function | Perform activities related to developing and sustaining University Libraries' electronic and physical resource collections to meet user needs, including material selection, deselection, preservation, evaluation and assessment; coordinate pre-order activities for new e-resource acquisition, including trials and licensing; serve as collection development liaison for assigned academic departments; support an inclusive, diverse, and collaborative work environment and service culture to advance the strategic directions of the University Libraries. |
Minimum Education |
MLS/MLIS/MIS degree from an ALA accredited program. |
Minimum Experience | Experience(including coursework/internships) with electronic resources, collections development and management, library acquisitions, or other related area |
Minimum Other | Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and within a team environment; ability to plan, coordinate, and manage projects; working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. |
Authorization to work in the US | Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. |
Preferred Education | Additional advanced degrees. |
Preferred Experience | Electronic resources, collections development, or acquisitions experience in an academic library; experience with library automated systems, such as OCLC, GOBI, ALMA; demonstrated analytical abilities including use of qualitative/quantitative data analysis and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with project development and management. |
Preferred Other | An awareness of current issues and trends in librarianship and potential for scholarly and professional achievement. |
