Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Essential Job Functions
To maintain the appearance of the Plemmons Student Union, which involves the cleaning of PSU meeting rooms, restrooms, floors and public areas. Work of this nature involves the use of cleaning agents and related cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, carpet/upholstery extractors.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be physically able to lift moderately heavy materials, equipment, and supplies on a daily basis.
  • Good communication skills and abilities when dealing with faculty, staff, and students, thus fostering good relations with the public and building occupants.
  • Ability to work within a team and individuals settings.
  • Ability to work with cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to operate housekeeping cleaning machines.
  • Must have a valid driver's license in order to drive ASU vehicles as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer professional housekeeping experience with basic computer skills.

Physical Demands of Position
The nature of the position is manual and requires a great deal of physical effort to accomplish the position's various cleaning responsibilities. Physical effort includes the use of supplies and materials, and the movement of various cleaning equipment.

Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties.
Knowledge - Technical: Create a daily cleaning schedule that best meets the needs of the patrons and the building users. Attend, when applicable, various workshops on campus to keep informed of best practices as it relates to new products, work performance and safety. Inform my supervisor of any maintenance that must be done on cleaning equipment. Clean and maintain equipment on a weekly basis. Perform supply inventory on a weekly basis and will restock when necessary.

Customer Service: During daily work shifts, observe customer patterns in regards to usage of the union and adjust cleaning schedules as needed. Make suggestions, as needed, to supervisor of how to improve the operation of the student union.

Safety and Health Compliance: Attend, when applicable, various workshops on campus to keep informed of best practices as it relates to new products, work performance and safety. Attend annual Blood Borne Pathogens workshop. Adhere to safety directions on cleaning products and machines. Clean and maintain equipment on a weekly basis.
Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
