We are seeking a Forest Business Analyst to support the analytical needs of Georgia-Pacific's Wood & Fiber Supply Organization. This role creates value by using data to help drive business results. In this role, the analyst will use data and communication to identify opportunities for process improvements and waste elimination. The analyst will then partner with key business areas to help directly impact the decision-making process. A successful candidate will be a self-starting individual that demonstrates innovation and a sense of urgency towards evaluating business opportunities. This role is based at our headquarters in Atlanta, GA.


Our Team

Georgia-Pacific Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS), LLC is key to ensuring that GP's 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips. W&FS sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional, or individual landowners. This position will interact with Division VP, Region Managers, location procurement leaders, and the Division Analytics team.


What You Will Do

  • Learning and understanding the Georgia-Pacific Wood & Fiber Supply commodity trading business
  • Using descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive advanced analytics, creating metrics, and sharing knowledge with decision makers
  • Utilizing optimization software to drive strategic goals creating value for our business partners by attaining an optimal plan
  • Driving collaborative discussions across the regions to gain and share knowledge and identify innovation opportunities
  • Establishing and managing timelines, project priorities, and strategic initiatives
  • Analyze operational performance providing insight for improvement opportunities


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Three+ years' analytical or operations experience
  • Microsoft Office experience including: Excel skills (creating formulas, using pivot tables, and manipulating spreadsheets), Word (creating and editing documents) and PowerPoint (creating and editing presentations)
  • Experience with interpreting data, presenting information in a clear, concise format that a variety of audiences can understand, and compiling data in various analytical formats


What Will Put You Ahead

  • MBA or Master's degree
  • Five+ years' analytical or operations experience
  • Experience working in the Forestry industry
  • Experience as Financial Lead or Analyst, especially supporting a forest products organization
  • Experience with creating metrics and measuring business performance
  • Experience with data management & database design
