As Corporate Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work closely with diverse business functions, lead, and support cross-functional projects, while playing a critical role in ensuring our compliance and regulatory success as we transform the grid of the future.

As Corporate Counsel you will collaborate with business groups in providing legal support and advice on a wide variety of matters including federal and state regulatory proceedings, risk identification, and mitigation strategies to contribute to and influence to strategic direction of the organization.

We are looking for exceptional, highly organized candidates with demonstrated ability to proactively identify, anticipate, and communicate business needs with legal and strategic advice to exceed client and subject matter expert expectations. Process and Performance Management, Legal Representation and Advocacy, strategic influence, and risk management.

In one year as a Corporate Counsel, you will know you were successful if you:

  • Drive the implementation of department goals to align with corporate strategy and objectives, ensuring processes meet business, technology, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide leadership across all levels of the organization, demonstrating discretion and political sensitivity while coaching attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure effective communication and operational excellence.
  • Identify, prioritize, manage, and mitigate complex enterprise-level risks to ensure effective business processes and compliance, working closely with MISO business functions.
  • Represent MISO before state and federal agencies and courts, provide strategic advice on FERC and state regulatory issues, and advocate on behalf of MISO within regulatory and stakeholder committees.
  • Manage and measure process, system, and team performance to ensure operational excellence, leading cross-functional improvement projects to meet corporate objectives.

What we are looking for:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
  • License to practice law in any US state or the District of Columbia (Indiana licensure required within 18 months)
  • 5-10+ years of related legal experience

What we would prefer:

  • Knowledge of FERC policies and procedures (preferred)
  • Regulatory or energy industry experience (strongly preferred)
