Job Title: Project Coordinator (NWS 00686)

North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

The Weapons Infrastructure Program Directorate (WI) has an immediate opening for a Technical Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide advanced technical and administrative coordination of Special Facility Equipment (SFE) and other infrastructure projects, work planning activities, and coordinate the efficient use of manpower, materials, equipment, and time to ensure proper and efficient operation and adherence to security, environmental, health and safety regulations.

This position may require work at both the Main Livermore Site and Site 300 in Tracy, California. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

Essential Duties

- Provide advanced coordination and support for multiple technical projects and other work tasks with frequently changing requirements and priorities.

- Prepare periodic project performance analysis, project schedule status reports, and any additional project documentation as required through all phases of project lifecycle.

- Maintain appropriate records and summaries to support project needs. Provide award/delivery status to supervisor and customers/requestors. Anticipate and reconcile supply problems, including technical factors affecting critical milestones.

- Incorporate change management practices, appropriately capture associated schedule activities, and prepare required supporting documentation.

- Interact with multi-disciplinary staff for specific planning, prepare and schedule tasks & earned value presentations, collect progress data, coordinate forecast budgets, and revising project plans.

- Review equipment plans to validate drawings and to confirm assets are properly installed, ensuring documentation matches installed configuration.

- Strictly adhere to laboratory safety and security guidelines, and regulations, and perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.

- Support Project Engineers in reviewing drawings, electrical schematics and other related technical information while applying appropriate standards, procedures, and techniques to screen potential suppliers. Review vendor proposed fabrication processes, pricing, and delivery schedules.

- Utilize CAD software to produce conceptual designs for building utility systems and other modifications that include all necessary information for field construction development.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

- Associate degree in an engineering technology field or equivalent combination of education and experience with significant related experience in construction and operations of facility systems or utility site infrastructure systems.

- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical design and installation standards and practices.

- Knowledge and experience using scheduling and reporting tools; such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

- Experience using AutoCAD software in construction and facility applications.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment which includes engineers, technicians, and crafts.

- Experience working independently and as a team member with effective problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting specific programmatic technical and reporting requirements.

Special Requirements

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.
