Job Summary

Under indirect and intermittent supervision in accordance with Plant Operating Procedures and Fermi Technical Specifications, operates and provides protection on all Balance of Plant equipment, and on safety related equipment. Preforms operating care and minor maintenance to all plant equipment. This is including, but not limited to: Read, record, and interpret data from all BOP and designated safety related instrumentation. Monitor levels, pressures, temperatures, and flows to ascertain system performance and communicate with Control Room or other plant personnel.

Key Accountabilities

1. Perform DCAT testing of new equipment. Serves as Solution Team member for corrective action plans. Completes technical specification instrument checks. Performs data acquisition for vibration analysis program.
2. Start, stop and regulate all Balance of Plant (BOP) auxiliary equipment and safety related equipment. Diagnose and correct, various operating conditions on all assigned equipment.
3. Operate all auxiliary equipment in the BOP area. Assist in the operation of the main turbine generator and associated equipment. Respond to alarms.
4. Place BOP and safety related systems in and out of service.
5. Inspect all BOP auxiliary equipment and safety related equipment. Look for defects in equipment, faulty operation, poor housekeeping, unsafe working conditions, fire hazards, etc., and take necessary corrective action. Troubleshoot assigned equipment and assists in writing work orders to correct deficiencies.
6. Maintain operating logs.
7. Read, record, and interpret data from all BOP and designated safety related instrumentation. Monitor levels, pressures, temperatures, and flows to ascertain system performance and communicate with Control Room or other plant personnel.
8. Perform audits. Assist in maintaining Control Room tracking systems. Take Control Room readings as assigned. Defeat or enable alarms as directed by the Control Room. Respond to alarms and conduct inspections.
9. Provide protection on all BOP equipment and on safety related equipment. Plan, coordinate, and carries out electrical switching.
10. Perform operating care and minor maintenance on all BOP auxiliary equipment and safety related equipment
11. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and sketches. Maintain records concerning the in-service and out-of-service status on all BOP equipment and on safety related equipment. Test, accept or reject all BOP equipment following maintenance, repairs or modifications.
12. Conduct routine performance evaluation testing on BOP equipment and surveillance testing on safety related equipment.
13. Operate liquid and solid radwaste equipment and systems. Control processing and inventory of all potentially contaminated waste generated in the power plant. Maintain operating logs and records of liquid radwaste discharges and solid radwaste processing.
14. Assist in nuclear fuel handling operations
15. Assist in training and qualifying other Nuclear Operators.
16. Act as a member of the Fire Brigade, Respond to plant emergencies as a member of Radiological Emergency Response Preparedness (RERP).
17. Act as a member of the plant Bomb Search team, and Damage and Rescue team. Perform confined space rescue extraction.
18. Operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, high horse, air lifts, mobile battery powered lifts, pickup trucks, etc Operate and service chorine, acid and caustic systems.
19. Inspects and test re suppression equipment.
20. Performs hydrostatic tests on re hoses. Makes static and dynamic ow tests on re hoses, hydrants, and sprinkler systems. Pumps out re hydrants as required, to prevent freezing, installs re hoses couplings and connections.
21. Performs surveillance on re protection and detection systems and inspects and tests re barriers.
22. Fills out reports and records of test, inspections, repairs, locations, etc., of reghting equipment.
23. Performs conned space surveys and cutting, welding, and grinding permits.

Qualifications
  • 3 years of power plant, navy, or equivalent experience.
  • Must successfully complete the Fermi 2 Initial Training Systems Course and maintain those qualifications on the prescribed basis Must pass yearly Fire Brigade and Bomb Search qualifications and physical requirements Hand and eye coordination when: Regulating or adjusting the automatic operation or manually controlling fluid and gas pressures, flows, temperatures, differential pressures, level, etc. Uses test instruments, power and hand tools.
  • Operates forklifts, pickup trucks, etc. Walk or stands, stops, bends, kneels, reaches, pushes, crawls, etc.
  • Operates large valve, moves barrels, compressed gas cylinders & dollies, Epicor resin containers, and materials up to 100 Ibs upstairs and ladders up to 60 feet.
  • Exposed to noise, vibration, heat, humidity, etc. grease, dirt, oil, chemical fumes, etc. heat & cold in the plant, adverse weather conditions when working outside plant buildings.
  • Wears respirators, anticontamination clothing, chlorine protective suits, ice vests, and rain gear
