This position provides Human Resources support to Kentucky Trailer Specialty Vehicles (AMST) business unit in University Park, IL. Partners with the business team daily to develop and implement processes and practices that promote sound employee relations consistent with Kentucky Trailers' core values. Works to ensure that performance management processes and compensation practices of the company are up to date and competitive. Assists in developing and improving programs and practices that ensure that Kentucky Trailer is an employer of choice.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

  • Recruiting

    • Partner with the AMST managers to develop position descriptions, and identify candidate sources, selection teams, and search timelines. Screen candidates, conduct employment interviews/assessments, and provide feedback on candidates to supervisors and managers.

    • Develop and implement sound sourcing strategies and processes including industry networking, internet resources, campus recruiting, internships, and third-party recruiters.

  • Employee Relations

    • Collaborate with general managers and floor supervisors to ensure HR practices are followed including compliance, appropriate staffing levels, retention, employee training/engagement, performance, and incentive programs.

    • Oversee the management of all employee relations matters to ensure employees are treated fairly, and provided with competitive wages, benefits, and sound working conditions.

    • Coach, facilitate, and advise management toward the resolution of employee/management issues.

    • Assist in the development of and improvement of programs and practices that ensure AMST is an employer of choice.

    • Assist in the design and continual improvement of the New Employee orientation program.

    • Leads and/or supports annual HR cycle deliverables to include performance management; merit and bonus awards; benefits enrollment; etc.

    • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.

    • Provide support and guidance to HR staff.

  • Performance Management Appraisal

    • Work management team to create job descriptions, develop career paths, implement succession planning, and improve the performance management system.

    • Prepare for employee performance discussions or terminations with supervisors.

  • Salary and Benefit Administration

    • Administer the Company's base pay and incentive compensation program and provide consultation on compensation recommendations.

    • Available to explain company benefit programs including health plan offerings

Education

  • Required - BA or BS in HR or a related relevant focus or equivalent experience instead of a degree. Desired PHR or SPHR Certification desirable.

Experience

  • 5-years' or more experience in human resources.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment desired.

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with C-level to hourly associates, easy to approach, practices fair treatment of all individuals.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting while managing numerous projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Prior experience working with ADP, Workday and UKG/Kronos

  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.

  • Knowledge of safety programs and OSHA requirements.
