Position Purpose:

The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Operations in managing all water and wastewater operations in the Highlands area. This role involves ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with regulatory standards, and the provision of high-quality water services. The Assistant Operations Manager will assist in strategic planning, oversee day-to-day operational activities, and support the development of policies and procedures to maintain operational excellence.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing water and wastewater operations in the Highlands area, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and strategic operational plans.
  • Manage production, treatment, and maintenance of water systems, ensuring adherence to water quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with various departments for the timely completion of capital projects and operational improvements.
  • Address customer complaints and inquiries related to water quality and service.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for operational efficiency.
  • Resolve operational issues and provide technical assistance as required.
  • Oversee vendor and contractor services, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience in a regulated utility.
  • Relevant industry experience in water treatment, hydraulics, or water / wastewater operations
  • A minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience in business management preferably water and/or wastewater utility management.
