We are seeking 1 to 2 researchers who are also experienced in providing technical assistance to join our team! The Senior Education Researcher & Technical Assistance (TA) Provider(s) can develop and deliver state-of-the-art TA that addresses high-priority needs as identified by federal, state, and local education leaders, as well as carry out research and evaluation activities across a host of education-related studies. The successful candidate(s) will communicate effectively with federal and state leaders, TA participants, clients, and colleagues. The position requires completion of a wide range of TA, research and evaluation, project management and support activities, working closely with project directors and other senior staff. The successful candidate(s) will have a demonstrated record of working well as part of a team and will be committed to supporting the use of evidence-based, equity-focused teaching and learning practices that are culturally and linguistically responsive.

The ideal location for this employee is within an occasional commutable distance to our Arlington, VA office. Alternatively we will consider remote candidates as well.

Responsibilities

Technical assistance responsibilities may include:

    Identifying evidence-based practices to address educator-identified high-priority needs across varied content areas, including but not limited to college and career pathways, social and emotional learning, mental health and well-being, mathematics, literacy, and educator workforce.
  • Applying expertise in TA methods including needs and readiness assessment, logic model development, measurement planning, continuous improvement, and adult learning.
  • Generating well-structured, clear, and concise TA materials, products, and technical reports.

Research/evaluation responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and carrying out moderately complex data collection and analysis tasks and developing summary reports.
  • Developing research designs, using quantitative and qualitative research methods, to investigate the impacts of policy and practice.
  • Analyzing data, including state and federal administrative data, and using effective data visualization techniques to communicate results to interested parties.


Project management responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a leading role in successful projects and proposals (of any size) for state and/or federal agencies, foundations, or commercial clients.
  • Establishing and meeting project timelines, within budget constraints.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate in education, developmental psychology, education psychology, human services, public policy administration, or other related field with a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or a master's degree and 6 years of related TA and research experience, preferred.
  • Content expertise in one or more of the following areas: teaching quality and school reform, college and career pathways, postsecondary education, STEM and computer science, equity in education, social and emotional learning, mental health and well-being, and digital learning and technology policy.
  • Demonstrated experience leading tasks on large projects, such as designing and delivering training, coaching, and technical support to educators ranging from the school level, to state departments of education, to the U.S. Department of Education, or equivalent with a state or local education agency.
  • Demonstrated experience addressing issues of equity in education, particularly as it relates to Black or African American, Latino or Latine, and other racially minoritized students.
  • Experience on large federally funded contracts or cooperative agreements, such as the Regional Educational Laboratory Program or the Comprehensive Centers, or experience working in a state or local education agency.
  • Experience with planning and developing program or intervention development and strategic dissemination products that meet the high-leverage needs of partners, clients, or funders (or equivalent experience within a local or state education agency), using evidence of what works (e.g., What Works Clearinghouse Practice Guides).
  • Experience building a culture and climate that fosters professional growth, personal well-being, and employee job satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and work with many team members.
  • Demonstrated experience working with marginalized, diverse, and multilingual populations.
  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to communicate evidence-based practices to nontechnical audiences.
  • Evidence of significant contributions or authorship of publications, books or book chapters, professional reports, toolkits, and/or TA materials.

The salary range is: $110,000 to $140,000. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
