Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will develop and deploy machine learning solutions. You will optimize models for deployment on cloud infrastructure and embedded hardware, implement scalable and efficient training procedures, and integrate models into production systems.

This hybrid role requires an onsite presence in our Frisco, Texas, or Westbrook, Maine office.

Department:

IDEXX Data and AI Centre of Excellence develops and delivers data and AI assets and solutions to enhance IDEXX R&D, products, software, services, internal operations, and business practices.

The Machine Learning Operations team supports all projects in the Center of Excellence.

In this role:
  • You will design and implement machine learning models and algorithms.
  • You will develop training processes that scale to large imaging and text datasets.
  • You will optimize models for performance and scalability on embedded systems.
  • You will work with software engineers and data scientists to integrate ML models into production systems on the cloud and in embedded systems.
  • You will collaborate with data scientists to identify and analyze data requirements.
  • You will develop and implement data preprocessing and feature engineering pipelines.
  • You will stay current with the latest developments in machine learning and related fields.

What you need to succeed:
  • You have experience in machine learning and have delivered solutions into production.
  • You have experience with machine learning frameworks such as Tensorflow and PyTorch.
  • You have experience optimizing model performance on CPUs, GPUS. Experience with embedded hardware optimization is a plus but not required.
  • You have ML tech stacks, including Databricks, MLflow, Amazon AWS (EC2, S3, SageMaker), and containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • You have excellent software engineering skills, including a test-driven mindset.
  • You are proficient in Python and Spark and are familiar with other programming languages.
  • You have a high level of comfort with Linux.
  • You have strong skills in SQL.
  • You have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • You have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
