About the opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Community Engagement to lead the development and execution of strategies aimed at growing, retaining, and engaging our contributor community. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in community management, a deep understanding of incentivizing high quality user-generated content, and the ability to segment and target different contributor markets effectively.

The day to day:

  • Contributor Growth and Retention: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to increase contributors in key markets and verticals, incentivize useful contributions and enhance retention.

  • Incentivization Programs: Design and manage programs that encourage submissions, ensuring high-quality, useful and frequent contributions.

  • Market Segmentation: Analyze and segment the contributor community to tailor engagement efforts, ensuring targeted and effective communication with various contributor groups.

  • User Engagement: Create and foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging community environment through interactive activities, events, and content.

  • Metrics and Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on engagement metrics, using data to drive improvements and demonstrate success.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product, and customer support teams to align community engagement strategies with broader company goals.

  • Feedback Loop: Establish and maintain open channels of communication with community members to gather feedback, address concerns, and implement improvements.

  • Content Strategy: Oversee the creation and curation of content that resonates with the community and supports engagement initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Minimum of 7-12 years of experience in community management, social media management, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of community-building principles, incentivization techniques, and market segmentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure engagement and derive actionable insights.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Innovative thinker with a passion for creating engaging and dynamic community experiences.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (preferred but not required).

At Shutterstock, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. The compensation package offered may vary depending on employment experience, skills, and knowledge. You may also be eligible for our generous benefits package including health, wellness and financial benefits. Compensation ranges for candidates in locations outside of the location(s) below may differ based on the cost of labor, market, and additional factors.

The pay range for this position is below:

* 165,000 - 185,000 per year in New York

Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
