Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability. The Office of Clinical Operations is an integral part of the School and their primary mission is to provide the highest quality education and training to students and to provide the highest quality dental treatment available for patients.
Position Summary
This position will be the primary administrator for the vendor-contracted dental laboratory services dispensary and other dental lab case management support requirements provided by Clinical Operations to the School of Dentistry's student clinics and other departments requiring this service. The lab coordinator will receive dental lab cases and inspect for quality assurance, receive prescriptions for contracted lab casework and assign appropriate vendors, document cases in the case management system, ship laboratory models to selected vendors, track casework costs, purchase supplies, prepare purchase requisitions, process financial transactions, and prepare financial reports. Secondary duties include cross-coverage in other Clinical Operations areas.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of policies and procedures necessary to provide operational and administrative support. Ability to calculate inventory needs and anticipate trends to ensure on-time ordering. Ability to receive, investigate, analyze, and when possible, resolve complaints/problems associated with the Clinical Operations areas. Ability to convey information and ideas to students, faculty, and staff regarding issues related to all Clinical Operations areas. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally as well as in writing.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working with Dental Labs or Dental lab procedures.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
Experience with Inventory Management.
Experience with lab tracking software.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical Effort: Lifting of material up to 351bs is routine. Extended periods of standing and reaching. Maneuvering inventory carts weighing up to 200 pounds is routine. Visual Attention, Mental Concentration and Manipulative Skills. With or without reasonable accomodations.
