POSITION

The structured research analyst will be based in San Francisco but be available as part of a centralized credit resource to teams in the Midwest and East coast. This individual will be instrumental in formation of structured products strategy, security analysis, and surveillance. The role will also, at times, be involved with business development for various Structured strategy opportunities as well as client-facing opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to fixed income strategies with in-depth, bottom-up research analysis with a focus on Esoteric ABS and private 4(a)(2) ABS.
  • Oversee credit analysis methodologies for complex Esoteric ABS subsectors
  • Provide timely credit opinions on primary and secondary opportunities in the ABS market
  • Monitor industry changes and developments related to the ABS market and regulatory environment.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and surveillance of existing holdings
  • Create market/sector update presentations for monthly or quarterly client deliverables.
  • Help fulfill client deliverables pertaining to regulations in banking (Basel) and insurance (CECL/OTTI).
  • Participate in occasional client-facing meetings.

CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in structured credit, with direct participation in the esoteric ABS markets. Experience in CRE, CLO and Residential MBS is also beneficial. A thorough understanding of the various ABS sub-sectors, collateral, structures, deal terms, rating methodologies, etc. is essential.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven analytical and quantitative abilities that can be demonstrated in work-related experience and track record.
  • Ability to design credit models and presentations for internal and external use, respectively.
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability as a team-player, a quick intellect, and a willingness to work in a "hands-on" environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with external parties, including banking/syndicate, issuers, and rating agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and fluid environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, economics, statistics, or accounting and a CFA/Masters designation is preferred.
  • Experience with CRE, Resi, CLO, and private 4(a)(2) structured credit
  • Adeptness with relevant systems such as Bloomberg, Intex, Trepp
  • Conceptual understanding of macroeconomic trends and market valuations

Base Pay Range: $160,000-$180,000

Salary Range for California candidates only.Actual based may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
