Job Title: Sanitation Supervisor
Location: Montgomery, IL
Hours: 3rd shift: 9:00 pm - 6:30 am or when shift is over (Monday - Friday and OT Saturday and Sunday)

Position Summary: The Sanitation Supervisor will monitor the Carl Buddig and Company Sanitation Program which is designed to ensure a safe, high quality and consistent food product per USDA regulations in all in-process and finished meat and poultry products. This position ensures that all processes impacting the sanitation production of Company products are consistent with established plant procedures in cooperation with other departmental staff or personnel. The major responsibilities consist of cleaning the equipment and overseeing 3rd shift staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Implement proper procedures for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Create sanitation schedules to ensure that all cleaning is performed on a regular or as needed basis.
  • Follow and adjust Master Sanitation Schedule as needed.
  • Verify and monitor completion of responsibilities as outlined via a sanitation work schedule.
  • Create and enforce self-inspection schedule to ensure self-auditing is completed.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Maintain required inventory of all sanitation department supplies.
  • Ensure that sanitation technicians are performing job duties as outlined via the Sanitation Technician Job Description.
  • Ensure that employees are abiding by all Carl Buddig and Company policies via the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Train new and existing employees on the required job duties outlined via the Sanitation Technician Job Description.
  • Discuss employees that have breached company policy or are not meeting performance metrics as outlined via the Sanitation Technician Job description with the Sanitation Manager and discipline accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sanitation Manager
  • Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Perform Pre-Op inspection using Red Zone software.

  • Ability to legally work in the United States is required.
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Previous food plant sanitation experience.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years supervisory experience.
  • Delegate responsibilities to employees as needed.
  • Analyze situations to provide solutions that are in the best interest of the company.

Working Condition and Physical Requirements:

  • Eighty-five percent of all work will be conducted in the plant (production) area.
  • Must be able to stand or walk at least 80% of each day.
  • Must use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, taste or smell.
  • Must be able to sit, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
