The Operator in the Felt department is responsible for the following:

Batch Making

This function includes the following:

Use of HMI to run the mixers Horizontal and Vertical.

Adding all the raw materials to the mixers including the required manual raw material additions as required.

Perform quality control test on finished goods per established guide lines.

Use fork lift to move raw material.

Splice in broken carrier or splices.

Thread the line using the proper threading pattern.

Clean and shovel the coating tank as needed which includes coating rollers and smoothing bars.

Perform house keeping duties in the designated area.

Splicing

This function includes the following:

Load and remove Carrier rolls at the Unwind station.

Inspect and remove compromised carrier from carrier roll before loading on to the unwind station.

Use fork lift to move raw material and finished goods.

Splice in broken carrier or splices.

Thread the line using the proper threading pattern.

Perform house keeping duties in the designated area.

Coating

This function includes the following:

Fill the coating tank with the proper coating.

Operate the line using HMI.

Coat the carrier according to product specifications.

Monitor the process and make the necessary adjustments to maintain the best quality possible.

Adjust the selvedge sand application to maintain 4" at all time.

Communicate with the rest of the line to ensure quality of the finished roll.

Splice in broken carrier or splices.

Clean and Shovel the coating tank as needed.

Thread the line using the proper threading pattern.

Perform house keeping duties in the designated area.

Sanding

This function includes the following:

Use the HMI to run the sanding/granule system.

Dispense the sand or granules onto the hot coated sheet per product specifications.

Remove excess sand that falls onto the ground and dispose of it.

Maintain the level of sand and granules in the respective hoppers to ensure continuous production.

Thread the line using the proper threading pattern.

Splice in broken carrier or splices.

Perform house keeping duties in the designated area.

Winding

This function includes the following:

Use the HMI to run the Winder and produce finished rolls

Perform a visual inspection of the rolls to ensure quality rolls are being produced.

Keep track of Scrap and Blem count.

Ensure scrap rolls are removed from the system and not shipped.

Ensure the proper labels are loaded on the tapping unit.

Splice in broken carrier or splices.

Thread the line using the proper threading pattern.

Perform house keeping duties in the designated area.

Driving

This function includes the following:

Use the HMI to operate the palletizer.

Load the correct size pallets in the palletizer.

Set up the palletizer to accommodate the different pallet sizes.

Operate the heat shrink machine to secure the rolls to the pallet.

Remove the pallet from the line and store in assigned dock or rack.

Remove rolls that fall off the palletizer.

Splice in broken carrier or splices.

Thread the line using the proper threading pattern.
