Job Description

Position Summary:

The HR Assistant supports the Human Resources recruitment and onboarding team and the HR department as a whole. Primary responsibilities duties include, but are not limited to onboarding new employees, scheduling interviews, formatting and posting job descriptions, managing job applications, collecting data for use and analysis as well as on-going and ad hoc programs and projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with new hires (staff, faculty, students) to facilitate their onboarding
  • Prepare for and meet with new employees to ensure that all pre-hire paperwork is complete
  • Occasionally travel to other campuses to onboard new employees
  • Scan new hire documents, audit new hire folders, checking for consistency in file names, preparing them for digital archive
  • Audit I-9 retention for compliance
  • Prepare New Hire Orientation packets
  • Schedule interviews for candidates
  • Conduct reference checks for lead candidates
  • Attend various Career Fairs as needed
  • Assist with processing of Student employees and Volunteer paperwork
  • Assist with special projects
  • Other tasks as assigned

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Working towards completing or recently received a Bachelor's Degree. Candidates majoring in Business Management, Human Resources management or complementary fields preferred.
  • Some office experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a good eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a friendly and welcoming manner
