Job Description

Datavant is a data logistics company for healthcare whose products and solutions enable organizations to move and connect data securely. By joining Datavant today, you're stepping onto a highly collaborative, remote-first team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare. We hire for three traits: we want people who are smart, nice, and get things done. We invest in our people and believe in hiring for high-potential and humble individuals who can rapidly grow their responsibilities as the company scales. Datavant is a distributed, remote-first team, and we empower Datavanters to shape their working environment in a way that suits their needs.

As a member of our Product Design team, you will be designing our most critical user experiences by the end of your first week. This work is essential to growing our business, which will ultimately improve the lives of patients by enabling the best decisions to be made with the right health data, at the right time. You will collaborate with our products' users and internal teams to incorporate user feedback into new flows and interfaces and help us decide what to build to help our customers accomplish their goals. If this sounds exciting to you, we'd love for you to apply!

Responsibilities

You are a full-stack designer, excited about user research, user testing, prototyping, as well as beautiful and functional interface work. You believe that enterprise and internal users deserve excellent experiences, and seek out every opportunity to bring delight and efficiency to the products you work on.

At Datavant, design is an equal partner with product and engineering, and along with shared responsibility in building the best products for our users, you will ensure the usability of the products we build.

  • You will own the end-to-end product design process, from research to implementation.
  • You know how to deliver an intuitive and self-service workflow and experience for users (both internal stakeholders and external clients) from inherently complicated and technical products.
  • You will partner with product managers to conduct deep user research, through in-person and remote observation, interviewing, surveys, and product instrumentation.
  • You will present your ideas to a varied audience (product managers, operations and GTM stakeholders, and engineers) and iterate product designs with our technical teams and work closely with them to understand all the technical functionality and constraints of the application.
  • You will support in communicating the impact of the team's work, and be an evangelist for the customer.
Qualifications
  • Experience in the healthcare industry (payer or healthcare data experience would be a bonus), and experience and interest in high-volume operational users
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in user research and design, preferably with experience in enterprise product design
  • Team player - you are smart, nice and low ego. You enjoy working smoothly with peers and supporting teammates to ensure growth and success of the entire company. You are able to put yourself in others' positions and understand their motivations, needs, perspectives and potential points of confusion.
  • Experience with creating user interfaces that navigate through complex technical workflows
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design methods across the full UX lifecycle
  • Great understanding of information hierarchy and design patterns. You should be able to produce quality designs (we use Figma).
  • Used to working collaboratively in a multi-disciplined agile team and can be a strategic thought partner to Product Managers and Technology
  • High bandwidth, high productivity, and highly organized - you are noted for your ability to simultaneously manage multiple topics

We are committed to building a diverse team of Datavanters who are all responsible for stewarding a high-performance culture in which all Datavanters belong and thrive. We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected status.

Our compensation philosophy is to be externally competitive, internally fair, and not win or lose on compensation. Salary ranges for this position are developed with the support of benchmarks and industry best practices.

We're building a high-growth, high-autonomy culture. We rely less on job titles and more on cultivating an environment where anyone can contribute, the best ideas win, and personal growth is driven by expanding impact. The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $210,000.

At the end of this application, you will find a set of voluntary demographic questions. If you choose to respond, your responses will be anonymous and used to help us identify areas of improvement in our recruitment process. (We can only see aggregate responses, not individual responses. In fact, we aren't even able to see if you've responded or not.) Responding is your choice and it will not be used in any way in our hiring process.

We are committed to building a diverse team of Datavanters where every Datavanter is empowered to bring their authentic self to their work. We are all responsible for stewarding a high-performance culture in which all Datavanters belong and thrive. We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected status.
