Posting Summary | The New Ark Freedom School (NAFS) aims to boost student motivations to read, generate more positive attitudes toward learning, increase self-esteem and connect the needs of children and families to the resources of their communities. A product of the Civil Rights Movement and 1964 Freedom Summer, NAFS serves 3rd - 8th grade families at Thirteenth Avenue Elementary School, over six weeks, using the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom School model. Education Specialist is responsible for supporting lesson plan development, classroom management, and parent engagement. As Site Testing Manager, the candidate is responsible for the assessment of children, parents, and Servant Leaders at the New Ark Freedom School program site. The Educational Specialist will administer individual reading assessments, collect surveys, and submit all required data and forms to the Children's Defense Fund. The Educational Specialist is responsible and best qualified to ensure the objectivities and credibility of the CDF Freedom Schools National Assessment initiative. Graduate/post graduate students majoring in education/psychology, current/retired schoolteachers, and local University professors encouraged. Position Expectations
