Position Highlights The University of Arizona's Fred Fox School of Music is accepting applications for Adjunct Instructor position in Piano for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

The duties include coordinate and supervise the undergraduate group piano curriculum for 110A/B and 210A/B and mentor and supervise graduate teaching assistants who teach the group piano curriculum; teach 310A in the Fall 2024; and other duties as assigned.

Hours will vary depending on courses taught, but will not exceed 18 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

1) Coordinate and supervise the undergraduate group piano curriculum for 110B and 210B. Duties include: Administer proficiency and placement exams (for music majors and music theater majors). Field and respond to email communications from group piano students, GTAs, and prospective students; facilitate communication between the GTAs and undergraduate.

2) Mentor and supervise graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) who teach the group piano
curriculum.

Duties include:

Plan 110B and 210B GTA meetings and meet weekly with GTAs to discuss weekly course outline and lesson planning. Update D2L site (course management system): weekly course outline and announcements page; rubrics for skill checks, midterm, and final exam. Team teach with each GTA; craft and review lesson plans; discuss student progress; conduct on-site observations and video observations with follow-up discussion to provide feedback. Maintenance of the keyboard laboratory.

3) Teach MUS 310A in the Fall Semester.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in related discipline or equivalent professional credentials or certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate Degree In Piano.
  • Experience teaching group piano class at college level.
