Job Description

The University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing in Columbia, MO invites applications for a professional Clinical Instructor position. The primary role is performing Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) assessments with long-term care (LTC) facilities, discussing quality improvement practices, specifically infection control policies, procedures, and processes using a tool similar to the CDC Infection Prevention and Control Assessment Tool for Nursing Homes Preparing for COVID- 19 with facility administrative and nursing staff. Some of this assistance will be provided by phone or a virtual format such as Zoom.


This position predominately serves Kansas City/north/northwest side of the state of MO - living in the region is preferred. As the current pandemic situation is ever-changing, some travel for on-site nursing home visits may be required, including overnight travel as necessary.


The clinical instructor needs a working knowledge of quality improvement practices along with a working knowledge of infection control practices for nursing homes. An ability to maintain confidentiality while working with individual facilities is vital. The selected applicant will be required to complete the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training course.


The clinical instructor must be able to work collaboratively with the existing MU QIPMO Clinical and Leadership Coaching, and ICAR team. It is also imperative to have an ability to establish collaborative working relationships with the staff of the MODHSS and carry out the required work in collaboration with the MODHSS and to develop collaborative relationships with the staff of MO's nursing home associations and other state agencies that provide services to LTC facilities.


Clinical instructors are required to complete timely entries into a database of all facility contacts (on-site visits, phone calls, e-mails, virtual visits, etc.)

Qualifications

Three-five years of experience as a nursing home administrator or nurse in long-term care; a bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business, or health professions; a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, health professions, nursing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.

Candidate will be evaluated on:
The ability to enter text via computer technology for purposes of timely data entry; working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to communicate via Zoom or other virtual platforms.

Other Information

This is a temporary, grant-funded position with an expected end date of July 31, 2025. The general schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Some overnight travel may be necessary.
