Job/Internship Description
Job Description

The Executive Office of the President's Office of National Drug Control Policy (EOP/ONDCP) leads interagency and intergovernmental policy development and analysis work focused on two distinct but interconnected mission spheres: public health interventions aimed at reducing illicit substance use or misuse of prescription drugs, treating substance use disorder, and developing and enhancing resources for those in recovery from substance use; and interdiction initiatives aimed at reducing the trafficking and overall availability of illicit substances and their chemical precursors.

ONDCP's Office of Performance and Budget (OPB) is the main coordinating body for ensuring that the interagency drug control budget is driven by evidence-based approaches to drug policy, and measures the implementation of these approaches. This component provides robust budget guidance to ensure adherence to evidence-and-intelligence-based approaches among the interagency, and convenes the budget interagency to ensure execution of drug policy priorities. This office also formulates and executes the agency's internal budget. Additionally, this component is responsible for drafting statutorily required budget and performance documents, including the companion components of the National Drug Control Strategy (Budget Summary, Performance Review Summary (PRS) report, and the National Drug Control Assessment). Additionally, this component coordinates and oversees the legislative referral memoranda (LRM) process.

ONDCP/OPB seeks 1 part-time intern who is highly motivated to contribute to ONDCP's critical mission. The internship, which is located in OPB's Interagency Budget Division, will focus on interagency budget responsibilities, to include assisting with summer budget reviews and coordination of documents submitted for interagency clearance. Candidates should demonstrate excellent attention to detail and good analytic and writing skills.

The Summer 2023 internship term begins on Monday, June 5, 2023, and ends on Friday, August 11, 2023. Interns will receive stipend payments of $375/week for part-time interns and $750/week for full-time interns. Part-time is considered a minimum of 15 hours/week to 34 hours/week; full-time is considered 35 - 40 hours/week. Stipend payments will be calculated based on the hourly rate (part-time or full-time) multiplied by the total weeks in the session (10). Two thirds of the overall stipend amount will be paid on or about the beginning of the internship; the remaining one third will be paid upon successful completion of the internship. In the event an internship ends early for any reason, the intern may be required to reimburse the government for any stipend amounts or portion thereof paid to the intern. All internships are located in Washington, D.C. All intern schedules are Monday - Friday and interns may only work between the hours of 7am - 7pm ET.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be a U.S. citizen;
* Must be 18 years of age or older;
* Males must be registered with the Selective Service;
* Must be able to commit to at least 15 hours per week;
* Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate college, community college, or university at least half-time;
* Must pass a background check and drug test;

* You may not receive compensation for this internship from any other source apart from the Executive Office of the President's stipend.

Applications will be accepted from Monday, February 13, 2023, through Friday, March 10, 2023. However, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible during the application window.

This internship will be conducted onsite/in-person; however, telework options may be available to selected candidates, contingent on supervisor approval and in accordance with the ONDCP Telework Policy. Telework is not guaranteed for any internship position.
